The About a Chair 53 Armchair with Gaslift was designed by Hee Welling for the HAY label.
The Danish design company HAY takes inspiration for its contemporary furniture and home accessories from the Danish Modern movement. Using innovative materials and technology, its designs work just as well in the home as in the workplace. Danish-born Hee Welling is based in Copenhagen although his experimental furniture work is exhibited in museums across the globe. Among his many prestigious prizes are the USA Good Design and the Danish BoBedre Design awards.
With the gentle curves of its seat, the angular boldness of its legs and its subtle colours, the About a Chair 53 Armchair with Gaslift is a striking contemporary design that blends aesthetics with pragmatism. Crafted from polypropylene and aluminium, this is an armchair that looks just as good in the home study as in commercial offices. The About a Chair 53 Armchair with Gaslift is height adjustable owing to a lever incorporated into the design. It measures 62 x 87.5 x 60 cm and complements other pieces by Hee Welling in the label's collections.
