Swirl 1 Suspension Lamp

The Swirl 1 Suspension Lamp was created by Øivind Slaatto for the Danish label Le Klint.

When Jensen-Klint perfected the technique of pleating lampshades in the early 20th century, the success of his label Le Klint was guaranteed. Today, the label works with leading lighting designers to create pieces that are innovative in shape yet highly functional. Øivind Slaatto studied both design and music before founding his own studio in Copenhagen. He finds his inspiration in mathematics and nature and is particularly fascinated by both the shape and movement of the snail.

The snail's shell and mathematical fractals provided the inspiration for the Swirl 1 Suspension Lamp. It is part of a range that Øivind started work on after graduation, and over the years he has improved and polished the design. The finished light demonstrates a perfect blend of form, function and light. It is a sculptural ornament both day and night, a design that works in any room of the home as well as in public spaces.
