The J39 Chair Walnut has been created by Børge Mogensen for the brand Fredericia. The late Danish industrial designer Mogensen is remembered as one of the most influential proponents of the Danish Modern concept. His forward-looking designs that have the hallmark Scandinavian clean, uncluttered lines are still in demand today.
A good example is The J39 Chair Walnut, a most original reworking of the basic chair concept. With a frame fashioned from lacquered walnut, it stands out due to the way in which the basics have been reimagined and how the seat has been made of hand woven natural paper cord. The legs have a circular shape and similarly shaped rods along and across the lower part of the frame add unique detailing. The inward-curving backrest is short, which leaves the woven seat on display. Part of the Frederica J39 Collection, the J39 Chair Walnut has a width of 48cm, a height of 77cm and a depth of 43cm. It has a seat height of 46.5cm. This 1947 chair is a timeless piece that is still appreciated decades later. A set of these chairs around a table will add a cosy retro vibe to a room.
